Our Story

Pioneers of the Herath Foundaton, Mr. Kiri Banda Herath, The All-Island Justice of the Peace, and his beloved wife Mrs. Yapa Herath, a school teacher, taught that “darkness of poverty can be eliminated by the light of intelligence.” They were treated with honor and great respect.

The founding members of the Herath family have always considered hardships of life as a blessing for success. Led by their mother and assisted by their father, they went to Japan for higher education. They preserved a part of their scholarship allowance and establish the foundation in 1985 for the benefit of children following a concept – the importance of allocating, before each meal, a portion of one’s meal for others – taught by their parents.

The dedication and services provided for others by the foundation have been highly appreciated by both national and international organizations and individuals during the last two decades.

Three Herath brothers founded Herath Foundation with a dream of moving up 1,000,000 families from poverty line by 2025 and assist younger generation, and for the betterment of Sri Lanka.
